Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

ā€œI am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,ā€ the coach commented.

ā€œIt's important to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.ā€

He continued, ā€œI'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.ā€

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

ā€œWe communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.ā€

He further stated, ā€œThrough standard discussions I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.ā€

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

ā€œI haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,ā€ the midfielder remarked.

ā€œIt is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.ā€

He added, ā€œIt's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.ā€

ā€œIn recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase like this with performances so bad.ā€

He concluded, ā€œBut we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.ā€

ā€œWe will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.ā€

ā€œBut right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.ā€
