NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text of the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available on select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the football calendar , following last week's discussion about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests was the number of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 entering the fourth period against Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

But it was positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

Denver boast the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily sending extra defenders but they might plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, we said on a program how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

New tight end their tight end has excelled big and recent RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.

It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he's so athletic.

His assets include his movement, being able to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains very decisive.

If you constantly rush it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence must defend the field vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think the coach appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having offensively is largely down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps make him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to be in their division. All they need is to continue this trajectory.

They excel at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the league began tracking takeaways in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
