R360 Recruits Hit With Decade-Long Suspension from National Rugby League

Australian rugby league's governing body has declared that participants who join the “rebel” R360 will be prohibited for 10 seasons.

R360, which plans to launch in late 2026, is hoping to draw athletes from both codes with lucrative deals and a reduced playing schedule.

Prominent rugby league players have reportedly been approached by the new league, which will involve six to eight men's sides and women's teams located in major cities globally.

Representing Samoa the player, who represents the Warriors in the competition, has confirmed he has had negotiations involving R360.

Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Haas and Jye Gray are also reported to be thinking about signing the rebel league.

Eight major union countries, such as Australia, recently imposed a restriction on R360 recruits playing global fixtures.

“We have consulted our clubs and we've responded strongly,” stated ARLC chairman the official.

“Unfortunately, there will continually be groups that seek to pirate our sport for potential financial gain.

“They don't invest in talent pipelines or the advancement of talent. They only leverage the efforts of other organizations, endangering athletes of economic hardship while gaining personally.

“Essentially, they are, copying the game.”

The league is co-founded by ex-England star Tindall and backed by commercial backers.

Subsequent to the possible rugby union bans were revealed recently, it commented: “We seek to cooperate collaboratively as integrated into the global rugby calendar.

“The series is designed with tailored timetables for men's and women's teams and R360 will release all players for international matches, as specified in their deals.”

The new league will apply for endorsement for its proposals from rugby union's governing body, union's administrative organization, at its council meeting in the coming year.
