Red Bull Announces Significant 2026 Driver Seats: Hadjar Steps Up, Teenager Arvid Lindblad Gets Grand Prix Debut.

The Red Bull team has announced a major reshuffle for the 2026 F1 campaign, elevating French driver Isack Hadjar to its senior team and awarding British teenager Arvid Lindblad his first Formula 1 seat.

The young driver, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, is set to become team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad Racing Bulls.

This driver musical chairs results in Japan's Yuki Tsunoda exiting the grid following a five-year stint.

The New British Hope

The youngster was marked out as a rising talent by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Regarding the team's junior academy, a key advisor noted last year that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", commending his "pure speed".

Red Bull prepared a programme since last year to prepare Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, featuring appearances in F1 practice sessions at Silverstone and Mexico City.

Lindblad stated it was a "proud moment", commenting: "Next season represents a huge step, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm eager to collaborate with the team and meet the challenge. I am incredibly excited to get started."

He has won two races in F2 this year and is P6 in the standings ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

The Frenchman's debut season started in difficult fashion when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has been one of the stand-out rookies of the year.

He featured an outstanding podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the championship.

A senior team figure commented: "Hadjar has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a quick learner. Most importantly, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can succeed alongside Max."

Hadjar described it "a fantastic step" and said he felt "ready".

Tsunoda's Exit

To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have preferred Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander began the season with the senior squad but was moved back early in the year. He has settled back in at Racing Bulls with notable results, persuading Red Bull he deserves more time.

Tsunoda, meanwhile, loses his place after a difficult season. His best result is a P6, and he has scored a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship.

The driver market moves mean that there is also no spot on the Red Bull academy for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
