Sir Keir Starmer to Push Supporting Countries on Advanced Missile Systems for Ukraine at London Conference

Sir Keir Starmer is expected to urge supporting countries to supply Ukraine with further advanced missile systems to hit enemy locations during talks in Britain on this Friday.

Sir Keir plans to receive Ukrainian President Zelensky alongside the so-called "coalition of the willing", comprising more than 20 of Ukraine's allies who have agreed to grant Kyiv security guarantees once a ceasefire is arranged.

Zelensky has been appealing for weeks for further extended-range systems from allied countries, a step that the Russian government has cautions would intensify the hostilities.

President Zelensky is travelling from Brussels, where he conferred with European representatives on the previous day requesting economic assistance.

"The single figure engaged in the ongoing war who does not want to end the war is President Putin," Sir Keir stated.

Britain's leader will also announce that 100 extra air defence missiles will be delivered to Kyiv ahead of schedule, as specified in a £1.6bn deal concluded between Britain and Ukraine in March.

International Support

The Ukrainian president arrives off the back of two diplomatic wins recently: Donald Trump's decision to implement additional restrictions against the Russian government, and the European Union deciding to support Ukraine's financial gap.

The Prime Minister is seeking to maintain the forward movement by escalating the pressure on the Kremlin to discuss a resolution to the conflict.

The Prime Minister will urge delegates to ramp up the supply of extended-range systems following a successful operation on an industrial facility in the Russian city, the Russian Federation, using British-supplied missile systems.

"Additionally, his horrific assaults on young children in a preschool in recent days make that perfectly obvious," he continued.

Several minors were among a minimum of seven killed in numerous enemy assaults on Ukraine, which hit a preschool facility in the important metropolitan area Ukraine's second city.

Economic Talks

Sir Keir will confer with supporting countries on how to take Russia's petroleum resources off the global market.

They will also discuss employing frozen Russian assets to offer Kyiv with financial loans, though the initiative encountered insufficient agreement and jurisdictional challenges at the Brussels summit on yesterday.

The EU opted against approving to a proposal to employ approximately €140 billion in frozen Russian assets to economically support Kyiv's finances.

However, the delegates agreed to help support the country's "economic requirements" for the coming 24 months.

The US also revealed measures on recently against the Russian major oil companies, Rosneft Oil and Lukoil, as part of efforts to apply monetary leverage on the Kremlin to enter peace talks.

The Russian government initiated its full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory in winter 2022. Russian troops presently holds about twenty percent of Ukrainian territory, comprising the Crimean peninsula Moscow annexed in 2014.
