The American champion Assured of Being 'in a good place' for Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics

Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, after earning a place on the rostrum for the fourth instance in five World Cup races.

The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her 142nd career World Cup podium finish.

Strong Return in the French Alps

Competing at the iconic venue for the first time in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place.

"I was slightly lacking the right line on the initial jump," the skier commented. "After that, I performed strongly. I'm pleased with my performance today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This result was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also taken third in the downhill on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement

Vonn officially retired in early 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she made a stunning return in late 2024 following a significant orthopedic procedure.

With less than two months remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely.

She already possesses an Olympic gold and two bronze medals from previous Games and is strongly positioned to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

"In Cortina, I will be fully ready," the athlete confirmed.

Chasing More Titles

In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has accumulated over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the top of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table.

This current World Cup campaign features a nine more events taking place before the circuit finale in Norway on March 21st, 2026.
