The President Calls Families of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to White House

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their honor.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed journalists. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid law enforcement in DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always ready to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and halt providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the audience at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
