The British and French governments have inked a statement of purpose concerning the positioning of troops in the nation if a peace deal be made with Moscow, the UK Prime Minister, Starmer, has declared.
Following negotiations with allied nations in the French capital, he indicated that the UK and France would "create operational bases in various parts of Ukraine and construct protected facilities for military hardware and military equipment" to discourage any future invasion.
The allied nations also proposed that the America would assume leadership in monitoring a truce.
The Kremlin has consistently cautioned that any foreign troops in Ukraine would be considered a "valid objective", but has as yet not responded on this new development.
Moscow's leader Vladimir Putin initiated a comprehensive attack of Ukraine in early 2022, and Russian forces at this time occupies roughly 20% of Ukrainian territory.
"This is a vital part of our commitment to stand with Ukraine for the foreseeable future," commented Starmer.
Top officials and top officials from the "Coalition of the Willing" participated in the recent discussions.
Speaking at a combined announcement, he further said: "It establishes the framework for the operational parameters under which allied and coalition forces could work on Ukraine's territory, securing Ukraine's airspace and waters, and regenerating Ukraine's defense capabilities for the future."
The British leader added that Britain would take part in any American-headed confirmation of a prospective truce.
Senior American diplomat Steve Witkoff stated that "lasting security guarantees and strong economic promises are critical to a permanent resolution" in Ukraine – referring to a key condition made by Ukraine.
The negotiator noted the coalition had "mostly completed" their work on finalizing such guarantees "in order that the Ukrainian people know that when this conflict ends, it ends forever."
The former US envoy, ex-President Donald Trump's representative, also was involved in the discussions.
Separately, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine's allies had made "major advances" at the meeting.
He noted that "strong" safety pledges for the Ukrainian government had been settled upon in the event of a possible truce.
President Volodymyr Zelensky commented that a "huge advance" had been made in Paris, but cautioned that he would only consider efforts to be "sufficient" if they culminated in the cessation of the war.
Last week, the Ukrainian leader indicated a peace agreement was "90% ready". Finalizing the last 10% would "shape the fate of the peace, the fate of Ukraine and Europe".
Russia presently holds about 75% of the Donetsk oblast and around 99% of the adjacent Luhansk region. The pair of oblasts form the heartland of Donbas.
The earlier US-led 28-point framework that was widely leaked to the media last year was seen by Ukraine and its European allies as being heavily skewed in Moscow's favor.
This sparked a period of high-level diplomacy – with the involved parties trying to adjust the proposal.
Last month, Ukraine presented the US an new proposal – as well as distinct documents detailing possible defense assurances and provisions for Ukraine's rebuilding, the President stated.
